Erika Brings Storm Warning For Several Caribbean Nations


CaribWorldNews, MIAMI, Fl, Weds. Sept. 2, 2009: The Caribbean nations of Antigua and Barbuda, St. Kitts and Nevis, the Netherland Antilles,  Anguilla, St. Martin and St. Barthelemy were last night under a storm watch.

This as the fifth tropical storm of the 2009 hurricane season, Tropical Storm Erika, formed east of the northern Leeward Islands on Tuesday.

The Miami-based National Hurricane Centre said that on its current route Erika was expected to remain northeast of the Leeward Islands.

At 8 p.m. last night, the center of Erika was about 390 miles east of the Northern Leeward Islands.

So far 2009 has seen one of the calmest starts to the hurricane season in a decade. The 2009 season ends in November.
