Former Haiti Pension Head Arrested


CARIBWORLDNEWS, PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti, Mon. Mar. 23, 2009: The former head of Haiti`s national pension fund has been arrested and jailed on money laundering charges.

Radio Kiskeya was arrested at home Thursday and taken in handcuffs to Port-au-Prince’s National Penitentiary, Le Nouvelliste newspaper said. However, so far no court date has been set and prosecutors are not saying how much money he is suspected of laundering.

Joseph resigned last year from his government-appointed post at the National Old-Age Insurance Office following allegations of corruption.
